Abortion is that kind of topic that most people tend not to like to touch on and even try to avoid, but when restrictions are passed on it, Americans are then more willing to voice their opinion against it. This is the case in Texas, where opponents of a new law passed in 2013 concerning abortion are now blaming it to cause "unconstitutionally" burden upon mothers seeking abortion who are not able to get it because certain requirements of the law caused many abortion facilities to shut down. The two main parts that are being decided on right now are the ones requiring doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges within 30 miles of where the abortion is performed and the one with restrictions on how doctors administer abortion-inducing drugs.
This is a ridiculous situation in which people who don't value the human life of an unborn baby are complaining because a law caused some abortion facilities to shut down in Texas. It seems that the real issue is not that 20,000 mothers seeking abortion are predicted to not be able to have an abortion annually, the problem begins with the allowance of abortion as a whole. There should not be an argument regarding certain policies of abortion because abortion should not be permitted overall. The reason for wanting to have an abortion or performing one does not matter, a human life is a human life, and it needs to be given the value and respect it deserves.
People who oppose abortion entirely are pro-life, and those who agree with abortion are pro-choice. Pro-choice supporters believe that abortion should be allowed because the mother has the right to decide and the government should not be able to tell her what to do with her own body. Individuals who agree with abortion also argue that it is not the act of killing a person because the fetus has not been born yet,and that is not able to feel pain within the first few weeks of pregnancy because it is still not alive. On the other hand, pro-life supporters argue that abortion is indeed the killing of an individual who even though is still in the womb, is still able to feel the horrors of an abortion. They stand strongly against it because of multiple reasons, one of their strongest arguments is that the fetus, just as every other human on earth, has an undeniable right, the right to life and mothers should not have the privilege to take it away.
Even though the topic of abortion is still an unsettling issue among Americans and therefore, people tend to ignore the subject, it needs to be given the attention it deserves. Individuals are calling some aspects of the Texas Abortion Law unconstitutional, but what is truly unconstitutional is the horrendous act of taking a human life without concern. We, as a culture, need to raise awareness and educate the ones who remain ignorant about this issue, in the hope of accomplishing the complete illegalization of abortion nationwide.
